 You need to write articles/posts on the different categories under your niche for example: if your site is about cooking you will create 3 to 4 categories on your website and write 4 to 5 posts on every category it's most important.

you need to write at least 20 to 25 blog posts on your website in a different category or topics and a minimum length of at least 500 to 1000 words including categorize.  
If your topic is not properly covered in 1000 words you shod write more words it does not only give your audience full information about your topic but also boosts your blogpost ranking on the google search engine. 

NOTE

For only increasing your article length don't use unnecessary words because your audience will leave your site and Google will understand that your content is not good so your ranking on google maybe search engine decrease your site.
